about cbjc

CBJC is an acronym for the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium. CBJC as an organization comprising several venues,muscians,community organizations and faith-based institutions committed to the development,nuturing and preservation of Jazz and related artforms throughout the Borough of Brooklyn. CBJC as organized in 1999 was the realization of years of discussions between representatives of United Music Makers,(Torrie McCartney), Sista's Place(Viola Plummer, SoFocus(Leroy Applin) and Jazzpazazz(Alma Carrol) on the importance and need for such a body. In pursuant of its mission CBJC subsequently produced its first festival in 2000, along with a Hall of Fame that honors those who have contributed to the history of Jazz in Brooklyn and Internationally
